When Aalim met Ranbir

It was a match met in hairstylist heaven
He’s easily one of the most sought after hairstylists in the industry.Right from Sanjay Dutt to Salman Khan and from Bobby Deol to Saif Ali Khan, everyone has worked with Aalim Hakim on their look. These days Aalim has made a new friend in Ranbir Kapoor who lives bang opposite his salon in Bandra. We caught up with the two as they discussed movies, hairstyles and Ranbir’s fetish for spending long hours in Aalim’s salon listening to music.

Keeping it shabby
“Ranbir is like a brother to me.” says Aalim. Adding that it was Salman who introduced him to Kapoor, Aalim says, “Ranbir has naturally good hair. I think he’s one of the few actors who’s well spoken and well read. In Saawariya, we worked on a look that would suit him. He played a young lover who wasn’t pumped up or the stereotypical hero we see in movies. Hence, we decided to let his hair grow and keep it shabby. I think it worked for the character. Now am planning to give him a new look.” Ranbir who says he’s now addicted to coming into Aalim’s parlour says, “I think Aalim bhai was great with his work on Saawariya, as he gave me a very comfortable look. I am also working with him on my next movie with Yash Raj.”
