An excerpt from an interview of Rishi Kapoor from Screen India
On screen, you specialize in the ‘buddy buddy dad’ kind of roles, what kind of a dad are you in real life?
I’m a father father’ to my kids. I’d have liked to be a friendlier father but now it’s too late to change. My daughter, Riddhima, has become close to me after her marriage. When my kids were growing up, I was busy and now when I have all the time in the world, my son, Ranbir, is busy with his career. I think, these days, I’m a confused father. My kids are independent enough to take their own decisions and don’t really need my advice. I don’t want to take charge of their lives.
But are you advicing Ranbir on his debut film, Saanwariya?
I get the jitters just thinking about Ranbir’s debut. I’m not nervous about the boy. I know he’ll surface. I’m confident of the boy. He’s trained to be a good actor. Now how good or bad he is, we’ll only come to know after the film releases. I’ve not seen even the rushes of Saanwariya. All that I know is that Ranbir will work hard.
So when will you direct a human story for RK Films?
Much as I’d like to, I don’t have anything to direct. It’s true that we want to start film production in RK again but there is nothing happening on that front at the moment”
